The Hot List: September 2009

The Hot List: September 2009

EVENT – Fashion Week: Get ready. New York Fashion Week starts on September 10 and will kick off the S/S 2010 collections. Get ready to say goodbye to Bryant Park this year and hello to some new showings, namely Erin Wasson x RVCA and Whitney Eve.

CHARITY – Peace One Day: Filmmaker Jeremy Gilley launched Peace One Day in 1999, setting out to find a starting point for peace. In 2001, the UN unanimously adopted 21 September as an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence on the UN International Day Of Peace. Find out how you can do your part on Peace Day 2009.

BLOG – Luxirare: “Killer Clothes + Fine Cuisine” is the tagline at Luxirare and she’s right. Blogger Ji creates incredible DIY clothing and food art, including her own version of the YSL Gold Breast Plate, a selection of Luxirare potato chips and more. Then she presents them to you in a photography series worthy of its own magazine editorial.

TV – The Day Before: Who doesn’t love a good behind-the-scenes series? Sundance Channel is giving viewers a look at what happens in the 24 hours before a runway show. Starting on Wednesday, September 9 at 10pm, you can catch The Day Before Sonia Rykiel, The Day Before Proenza Schouler, The Day Before Fendi and The Day Before Jean Paul Gaultier.

The Hot List: September 2009

ART – New York Minute Poster Pack: If you’re one of those people who likes to collect of-the-minute art, this is for you (and there’s only 100 available). Get 10 individual posters by artists such as Dash Snow, Tauba Auerbach and Aurel Schmidt. These posters will also be on display at the Macro Future Museum in Rome from September 19 – November 1.

TREND – Military Jackets: This trend has been around for a while now but it is getting hotter by the day (unfortunately, Michael Jackson’s death did create a sales surge). Want one of your own? Try the Alice + Olivia Embellished Shrunken Military Jacket ($440), the Arden B Military Button Front Jacket ($58) or the Free People Military Ruffle Jacket ($148).

BOOK – Indie Rock Coloring Book: Get your hands on this little gem ASAP! Proceeds go to charity, the foreword is by Rilo Kiley, and it features bands such as Devendra Banhart, The Shins, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and more. Color to your hearts content.

PRODUCT – Ashish Booties from Topshop: The Ashish booties from Topshop were so hot they sold out in the blink of an eye. But I have heard a rumour that there will be more leopard-print in stock soon, so keep your eye on the prize! These will look incredible with a little black dress and black stockings for fall.

BOOK – Hungry: Crystal Renn, a model who once fought an eating disorder just to keep her career has penned a book, Hungry. Renn, who has been seen in Vogue and Glamour, covers her journey from being approached by a modelling scout to her breakthrough as a plus-sized model and more.

FASHION – Rachel Zoe for QVC: Rachel is so hot herself right now, but even hotter? Her collection for QVC is set to launch on September 12. If you’re wondering what to expect, think statement bling, faux fur vests (a Zoe staple) and sequined evening bags. The bonus is everything is priced between $32-$130.
